Advantages of CyberKnife

Comparison of CyberKnife G4 with other cancer treatment methods.

Oncological diseases of each person appear through different peculiarities, that’s why the cancer treatment should be personalized. A good approach in cancer treatment for one person should not be entirely appropriate choice for another, even if both of them have the same cancer type.

There may be such cancer treatment methods as:

1. Radiosurgery with the use of CyberKnife G4 system;

2. Traditional or minimally invasive surgery; 3. Treatment of oncological diseases through medicines (chemotherapy) and/or radiotherapy. Together with your doctor you will evaluate the different variants  and will define the best treatment choice specifically for you. Your choice of cancer treatment may include some of the treatment types in a particular succession.

CyberKnife G4 Ukraine is the radiosurgical method for cancer treatment and the newest equipment in the field of cancer treatment throughout the world. It is the result of long-term and numerous researches of American oncologists. CyberKnife G4 is not a surgical method of cancer treatment. Though its name may conjure the impression of scalpel and surgical intervention, still the treatment with the help of CyberKnife G4 system does not include incisions. Indeed, CyberKnife system is the first and the only robotic radiosurgical system designed for non-invasive treatment of tumors throughout the whole body.  It gives painless non-surgical alternative variant for those patients who have inoperable or difficult for surgery tumors, or for those patients who search for the alternative of surgery and chemotherapy.

Comparison of CyberKnife treatment with the treatment through the traditional surgery.

  CyberKnifeStereotactic radiosurgery Traditional surgery
Incisions None Yes
Anesthesia None Yes
Stay in hospital None Yes
Recovery after operation None Recovery time depends on the procedure type (may last for some months)
Pain None Yes (with controlling medicine)
Infection risk None Yes

Benefits of CyberKnife G4 in the oncology and radiosurgery centre Cyber Clinic of Spizhenko

In oncology and radiosurgery centre Cyber Clinic of Spizhenko proposes the cancer treatment with the help of CyberKnife G4 system with numerous advantages for the patients who are in need for such a cancer treatment method.

  • CyberKnife G4 may treat both micro-tumors and large tumors which are to 6 cm in size, malignant and benign tumors, including brain (metastases in brain and multiple metastases), spine (tumors of spine and of spinal cord, metastases in spinal cord), lungs (peripheral lung cancer and metastases in lungs), prostate (prostate cancer, metastases of prostate cancer), kidneys (cancer of kidneys and metastases in kidneys), liver (liver cancer and metastases in liver) and pancreatic cancer.
  • CyberKnife G4 can treat tumors which are surgically inoperable (traditional or minimally invasive surgery) or those which cannot be treated with the help of medicines (chemotherapy).
  • Accuracy, flexibility, high effectiveness, painlessness of the treatment process—everything is about CyberKnife G4. With the help of robotic arm with 6 levels of freedom CyberKnife G4 system gives the access to the possibility of treatment of those tumors which previously have been regarded surgically inoperable. Moreover with the help of such a robotic arm CyberKnife G4 decreases the risk of damage to the surrounding healthy tissues (critical structures). The use of such unique technologies allowed CyberKnife G4 System to reach the accuracy of less than 0.5 mm while delivering the beam onto the tumor.
  • CyberKnife G4 sounds like a surgery but is not actually a surgery—there is no scalpel, no incision, no anesthesia, no blood.
  • Out-patient procedures—ambulatory treatment lasts for solely 30-90 min.
  • No hospital gowns are required—patients may wear their own clothes during the treatment.
  • No head or body frame (like stereotactic frame in GammaKnife)—there is no limitation of the movements of patient or part of the body during the cancer treatment. Unlike GammaKnife, radiosurgical technology CyberKnife G4 has the system of synchronization allowing to detect the amplitude of the patient’s breath and to conduct the treatment with the sub-millimeter accuracy (0.2-0.4 mm), taking into account also the treatment of lung cancer (peripheral cancer of lungs).
  • No risk of infection
  • Pain-free
  • No recovery time after the treatment—patients usually return to the normal activities immediately after the treatment.

 Radiotherapy

Radiation therapy has a great amount of names for its diverse technologies which use the radiation beams to eliminate the cancer cells. Swiss cancer institute was the founder in the field of radiation therapy as it was opened in 1932. Today the radiation therapy has a great variety of the variants, but still CyberKnife G4 is regarded to be the best robotic technology in the radiosurgery. Our specialists team is proud that in Ukrainian centre of oncology and radiosurgery Cyber Clinic of Spizhenko there is the cancer treatment with the help of radiosurgical system CyberKnife G4.

Traditional surgery
Traditional and minimally invasive surgery is usually applied in the hospitals. The process of cancer treatment is conducted with the anesthesia. After operation patient may stay in hospital during some particular period and after that may come home for the rest of the recovery. In minimally invasive surgery the incision is smaller, treatment and recovery period are shorter and the results are better than in case of traditional surgery. In both of the cases the doctor chooses the anesthetic medicines to control the discomfort and pain symptoms. Patient may also go through the chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy during cancer treatment.

Chemotherapy in cancer treatment
The special medicines are used in the chemotherapy to eliminate cancer cells in the body. Depending on the cancer type, chemotherapy may be used in complex with other types of treatment such as traditional or minimally invasive surgery, radiation therapy, or before/after the CyberKnife treatment. Type and doses of the medicine define the side effects.
