MRI

Preparing for the MRI exam
In a day before the MRI examination

• To cancel consumption of such food which may provoke patient’s intestines swelling
• To take laxative medicaments in the evening
• To drink a huge amount of water (up to 2-3 liters) if there are no diseases of cardiovascular system

Morning before the MRI examination

• In a case of the MRI exam of belly cavity organs it is required not to consume any food except for tea and/or light breakfast (taking into account all the recommendations considering food in order to omit the extensive gas forming. The last food consumption should be not later than in three hours before the MRI examination
• To answer the questionnaires to accept the requirements and recommendations regarding the examination.

In one hour before the MRI examination

• To take 2 “No-Spa” pills.

NotaBene:

• It is needed to take into account that the MRI examination is quite long process which may last up to 1 hour which may require spare time from patients.
• After the MRI examination the diagnostician might need up to 2 hours in order to get the detailed information considering the diagnosis and to write a detailed description of the illness
• In order to receive highly detailed information it is recommended to take the full data considering the disease (the ambulatory medical card is required)
• It is forbidden to use the hair cosmetics and make-up in order to minimize the artifacts during the MRI exam
• It is required to wear simple underwear (without synthetics, without beads, without metallic thread)
• It is essential to take off the costume jewellery and piercing
• If the patient is female, it is not recommended to have the MRI examination in the menses period.
